Today I went walking around Tiong Bahru, trying to find some cute restaurants and shops. There were a lot of charming historical homes and it was very exciting to go around exploring the area. We ate lunch at Flock cafe, which was quite reasonable and delicious! I ordered the Pork Cheek burger, which was mouth-watering. It came with Cajun fries, and a delicious bun filled with pulled pork, cheese, and some veggies: tomatoes, and lettuce. My brother got the roasted chicken with pepper mushroom sauce, that came with a huge portion, and fries on the side. My mom ordered the Fish of the day, with a butter orange sauce and rice, with a drink included. All of the meals were each 18 dollars or less. After a fantastic meal, we headed over to The Plain Vanilla Bakery, for gourmet cupcakes! They have a variety of flavors such as, red velvet, chocolate hazelnut, s’mores, Oreo, earl grey, apple cinnamon, and carrot. All the cupcakes were fresh, moist and large. I got the s’mores cupcake which came close to a real s’more: It had a graham cracker base, with a chocolate cake, a marshmallow frosting, and another graham cracker to top it all off! Delightful! It was a rainy afternoon, but I enjoyed exploring the neighborhood.
